Welcome! My name is Caroline and I'm a licensed psychologist offering teletherapy to clients in NC, DC, VA, and MD.
Clinical Psychologist in Elon, NC
I work with autistic, attention challenged, and highly sensitive individuals from a neurodiversity framework. Rather than teaching people ways to blend in, I help neurodivergent individuals let go of what isn’t serving them and tap into their innate strengths, passions, and potential. I offer support in learning ways to advocate for yourself to create comfortable boundaries so that your environment may feel more suitable to your sensory, social, learning, or attentional differences.
Our brain is a language-making machine. It produces over 6,000 thoughts per day. This often serves us well, but this bombardment of thoughts also fuels worry, stress. By engaging in therapy, you are giving yourself the time and space to take a closer look at the stories that you tell yourself and to become more in-tune with the deeply embedded thought patterns your brain has created. You will be able to observe your thoughts, loosen the grip on them, and live a more engaged, fulfilled life.
Many people who come into therapy start to unpack past trauma. Understanding the root of your distress, having those experiences validated, and treating yourself with compassion and understanding can be highly empowering and therapeutic. Talking through trauma can be scary. That is why we will go slow. First, I will provide a warm, safe space to establish trust. Next, you will learn skills to regulate your nervous system before moving forward with trauma processing.
