I have trained in multiple somatic therapies, including Trauma Resiliency Model, Trauma First Aide (both modeled on Somatic Experiencing), Brainspotting, movement therapy, and the Hakomi Method. I also have extensive experience in a therapeutic dance practice, Five Rhythm Wave, and am a certified practitioner of Bio-Touch, a gentle healing touch practice. My professional practice integrates the mind and the body.

I am trained as a teacher of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction by the Univ. of Massachusetts. I have been practicing mindfulness meditation for 30 years (daily) and teaching meditation since 1995. In my personal practice, I have attended many residential meditation retreats in various Buddhist traditions, especially in Insight Meditation (vipassana), which is the primary inspiration and foundation for most mindfulness-based therapies.

I have a certificate in EcoTherapy from Southwestern College (2010), that involved immersion in a variety of earth-based ceremonial and therapeutic practices. I am also a Vision Quest guide. I have trained as well in Soulcraft with Animas Valley Institute, in wilderness therapy with Open Sky Wilderness Therapy, and in therapeutic wilderness experience with Esalen Institute. I am certified in First Aid and have completed training in Wilderness First Aid. I also guide Forest Bathing experiences.

Low self-esteem is often at the root of problems like anxiety and depression. I will relate to you with compassionate empathy and lovingkindness, which will build the self-esteem that was not developed early in life. I will assist you in learning to love yourself. I mirror the strengths that you may not see and help you reassess yourself cognitively. Spending time outdoors, we see the beauty in ourselves mirrored by nature. Ceremonies help you step into your strong and authentic self.

Stress, and the anxiety that often accompanies it, can be debilitating. I can teach you tools that will help you manage and reduce stress, both internally and externally. I am a trained teacher of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and have been practicing mindfulness myself for over 30 years. Somatic therapy, a guided mindful exploration of body sensations, can help you become more aware of the signals your body sends you regarding stress and help reduce its impacts.
