About My Clients

Are you someone who has been struggling to find the help that's right for you? Are you facing difficult life transitions and unsure of how to proceed? Have you been dealing with the burden of shame and guilt alone? Do you want a non-judgmental space to examine your relationship to substances? Are there behaviors you would like to change but unsure of where to start? I provide radically compassionate and accepting care to people with all life experiences and stories.

My Background and Approach

Since 2011, I've worked in harm reduction and community mental health as a counselor, case manager, advocate, social worker, consultant, trainer, and therapist (sometimes all at once!). My experience includes providing support to unstably housed youth and young adults, gay/bi/trans men who have sex with men (MSM) who also deal with issues related to substance use, people living with HIV+/AIDS, end of life care, people impacted by the criminal justice system, parents, trauma survivors, sex workers, and affirming care for trans-/non-binary folx. I specialize in harm reduction therapy, utilizing a humanistic/relational approach, with an emphasis on how substance use intersects with PTSD/Trauma, end of life, major life transitions, chronic health conditions, and mental health issues.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I value each person I work with as an expert on their own life and strive to create a collaborative space where each person's unique knowledge, experience, values, goals, and autonomy is centered. I believe that a compassionate, safe, and strong relational connection is the foundation for providing a therapeutic space for clients to experience empowered growth and change. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support. Sharing your life story, your pain, your shame, or your joy can be a vulnerable experience. I believe it is critical to one's experience in therapy to honor this vulnerability. I believe that it is my job to earn your trust and rapport. I believe that you are the expert on your own experience and I am here to help you bring awareness to your emotional process. I believe in social, racial, and LGBTQIA+ justice. I strive to create a welcoming and comforting space for people from all different identities, backgrounds, and life experiences.
