About My Clients

I work with adults wishing to address a wide variety of mental health concerns. As we work together to make change in your life, I will focus on your goals, values, and strengths. In addition to the most common areas of concern (depression, anxiety, and the effects of trauma), I also have special training to help those facing chronic illness, pain, and disability, as well as the LGBTQIA+ community and those who have faced spiritual trauma.

My Background and Approach

While not tied to any single method, I do often employ tools from Internal Family Systems. It's a compassionate and non-judgmental approach which rests on an assumption that within each of us is the capacity to heal. I also draw on narrative and existential therapy and am informed by the polyvagal theory of trauma and threat responses. The aim is to create a truly satisfying life. It’s common that an early stage in this work is to stabilize emotions, interrupt harmful cycles, and promote calm. This involves gaining insight into what’s happening on the inside and building a toolkit for addressing symptoms. Too often, therapy stops at this stage. While these coping skills are critical, they are not the final goal. We keep going by shifting to a mindset of creation rather than mere stabilization. We move beyond simply tolerating life and into the realm of enjoying it!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that, just as every person deserves respect, every part of each of us does, too. That includes the parts that cause pain or trouble. Pain has a reason for being there. Pain is protective. When we spend enormous energy attempting to fight the pain, we are prevented from moving through it. Instead, we can re-orient our relationship with our pain, allowing it wounds to heal and freeing us to build a more gratifying life. Every aspect of my work as a therapist rests on this belief.
