I am currently getting certified as a Discernment Counselor to serve my clients that find themselves in a space where they need assistance finding clarity on if their relationship is salvageable. When we assimilate early on in relationship it can cloud our judgement of if we selected a mate that is well matched for us. This type of brief therapy (1-5 sessions) is aimed at figuring out if all parties want to forge ahead working on the issues or finding a way to peaceful dissolution.

I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and a variety of other therapeutic modalities to do integrative work around all issues that arise in relationships. I enjoy working with all types of relationships structures and identities on the path to unpacking dysfunctional default behaviors or ruptures that need reparative attention. I encourage people to enter therapy sooner than later as it is never premature to focus on how to improve communication and attunement to those we love.

I believe wholeheartedly that we don't benefit from being told we need to get 'past' something, 'over' someone, forgive or move on. The things that have happened in our lives are not things we can erase and are now and forever forward woven into the fabric of our identities and how we show up in the world. Allowing ourselves to hold space for the events of our past while also learning how to decrease their intensity and the weight they carry in our lives is powerful and necessary work.

Relationship rupture can lead to Betrayal Trauma of which can reoccur in one's Central Nervous System (CNS) and cause setbacks which become hurdles in relationships of all kinds. Doing intentional and compassionate reparative work around these ruptures are extremely important regardless of what outcome is ahead for the relationship. All parties benefit from entering this important work so everyone experiences healing and can move forward with increased peacefulness and health.

Having been married for 15 years, endured divorce, parenting plans and re-entering a new, complex relationship has given me much insight and relatability on a multitude of angles of relationship issues. My work with couples over the years has brought more wisdom and experience that makes this one of my favorite areas to do therapy. We all want to love and be loved and the complexity of how to relate to one another in ways that keep the focus on the highest good for our partner is important.

A significant portion of my practice is working with those that have endured the traumatic experience of sexual assault/abuse. This work requires meeting the client where they are at and following their lead for the pacing of the healing work that comes through unpacking their lived experience and how it is impacting their current relationship with self and others.
