About My Clients
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, dissociation, major life and relationship changes, eating concerns and disorders, and extreme states. As a queer, non-binary clinician, I am especially excited to work with people navigating issues related to gender identity, sexuality, and relationships of all kinds as well as with men.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I will collaborate with you to create a space of exploration and open up possibilities in your life. I understand that starting or continuing therapy takes a lot of courage and that you may have had negative or even traumatic experiences with therapeutic institutions in the past. With this in mind, I take a person-centered, abolitionist approach, emphasizing your self-determination and privileging your own goals and desires. I see my role as supporting you in building a more meaningful, satisfying life, in whatever way you define it. My approach is based in empathy, compassion, and authenticity. I draw from evidence-based modalities and theoretical orientations, including psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, relational-cultural theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I adapt these different approaches to meet your unique goals and needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe recovery is fluid and fluctuating. Therapy is just one kind of healing and there are many ways you are already taking care of yourself. I also believe that if we can give ourselves permission to imagine possibilities outside of capitalism, we can create them.
