About My Clients

Many of my clients have accomplished a number of their life goals, but struggle to feel connected in their relationships or live a balanced life. I love helping people recognize their strengths as well as guiding them to understand what is getting in their way of living the life that they want. I believe therapy is not just helpful for those experiencing unwanted psychiatric symptoms, but also for people who have the desire to become the best version of themselves.

My Background and Approach

As your therapist my goal is to help you improve your relationships, starting with the most important relationship of all the one you have with yourself. Personal empowerment covers many areas of mental wellness including managing anxiety, letting go of people-pleasing and codependency traits, as well as integrating more boundaries, assertiveness, and authenticity into your life. Therapy with me is insight-oriented and skills-based. I am intentional in balancing my role as both someone who provides support and someone who challenges you to grow. My qualifications and counseling skills cover a wide variety of areas, but are particularly well suited for those who want to become more empowered and for those who overuse digital media, (i.e. social media, video games, porn, information, and shopping). Having worked in in the field of addiction (both substance abuse and process addictions) for almost ten years, I have the experience needed to help you move forward in a positive way.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about helping people become empowered and grow into the best versions of themselves. As a Bahamian American, I was raised with a different relationship to the world and technology than most Americans. From an early age, this gave me a cautious perspective on typical approaches to mental health and the impact digital media was having on our lives, which influenced my education and career path to best help people who struggle with these types of concerns. I am committed to maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive practice, which serves as a safe harbor for people who identify as LGBTQIA, people of color, and people of the global majority. It is important for me to understand someone’s life narrative to help shift their way of thinking, feeling, and acting to be more congruent with who they want to be. When applicable, I use assessment tools, innovative techniques, and direct clinical/behavioral interventions to help support your goals.
