About My Clients
I work with adult clients who'd like help with resolving personal hardships &/or who need help building or repairing relationships (including the relationship with self). My wish is to help you work through difficult experiences, painful feelings & day-to-day challenges. You'll have the opportunity to release locked in emotions, to learn new insights & coping strategies... & to energize & heal. In addition, I dedicate part of my practice to supporting adults who have, or think they have, ADHD.
My Background and Approach
After 25 years of being a therapist, I have learned there are many ways to help people. When we begin working together, I will take whatever time is necessary to get to know you and will listen closely and with curiosity while you share the concerns that brought you to therapy. During this process, I'll ask many questions to better understand who you are as a person and how you prefer to be supported. I will tailor an approach specifically for YOU, as a unique individual, and will pull from numerous different therapeutic models based on what most resonates with you. I'm confident that in combining the clinical skills & experience I have, along with you openly sharing your thoughts, feelings & experiences... together, we can accomplish your desired goals for therapy. Feel free to text to (503) 407-9232 to schedule a no-cost consultation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people are incredibly resilient when they have the opportunity to truly be themselves and to feel accepted, understood and respected. Sadly, this is not everyone's experience. Many people are misunderstood, mistreated and/or experience a traumatic event(s) leaving them feeling unaccepted, unheard, devalued and/or hypervigilant. These feelings are painful and difficult to manage in isolation... You don't have struggle alone. Therapy provides the opportunity to heal and to do the hard work of rebuilding a sense of safety, empowerment & and self-acceptance. Each person has the strength & wisdom within themselves, and therapy can be a great opportunity to tap into these resources. Borrowing the sentiment from Maya Angelou... People do what they know. When they know better, they do better.
