About My Clients

I welcome to my practice individuals 13 years old and over, families, and couples/throuples/partnerships/unions in any form. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns. I have a special interest in working with adult men and male teens in healing the wounds of male oppression – the subtle, powerful socializing forces that can contribute to low self-esteem, depression, problematic anxiety, and expressions of toxic masculinity.

My Background and Approach

I will listen to your story and attune to the impact of important experiences as they relate to your therapeutic goals. Together, we will work to identify the struggles, beliefs, and wounds that hold you back while building on the innate strengths that are serving you well. Ultimately, we will collaborate to help you overcome individual and socially-imposed barriers that can hinder development of fully open, supportive, and fulfilling relationships – barriers that often limit personal creativity and self-actualization.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I hold a humanistic view of counseling and wellness. As a result, I believe everyone is equipped with the potential to heal and fully experience a life well lived, but these gifts are often blocked by our past hurts. While diagnostic language is sometimes helpful and appropriate, my therapeutic approach views human suffering through a non-pathologizing lens. I see humanistic, client-centered psychology as a more powerful, humane, and evidence-based alternative to the medical model of mental health care. I have a passion for exploring how internalized oppressive messages from society may influence how we think and feel about ourselves and the world around us. If relevant to your experience and treatment goals, it would be my honor to support you in your journey of healing from the hurts of oppression and prejudice. I welcome clients from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as LGBTQ+ clients and partnerships/families in any form.
