About My Clients

My clinical work has been focused within field of trauma, eating disorders and attachment with adolescents, adults, couples and family systems; at all levels of care including (OP, IOP, PHP, RES, and IP.) Focusing on the development of new skills to navigate one’s life and exploring the clients vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness as it relates to the presenting problem; co-creating new choices and practices that will move clients toward more authentic and wholehearted living.

My Background and Approach

I work with my clients in decreasing features of alexithymia as a central intervention point in improving emotion-regulation. Utilizing related techniques involved in enhancing emotional awareness, labeling emotional explanations of somatic distress, and integrating symbolic elements of emotion schemas. I work with individuals, couples families in helping to distinguish irrational proximity seeking, flustered, dependent interpersonal behavior in preoccupied attachment, or distrustful interpersonal isolation in avoidant attachment; and focusing on this process as essential in order for the client to understand their own emotional and behavioral responses. I am assisting client to acquire more effective personalized mood regulation strategies; by supporting them by consciously selecting and modifying situations, including those that trigger the symptoms; deployment of attention; change of attachment-related cognitions; and modulation of the regular responses.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Within my therapeutic work I utilize a systemic approach in treatment of individual, couples and families of all ages, meaning I explore the identified concerns in terms of relationships and social environments. I focus on creating culturally responsive strength-based, collaborative, and accountable partnerships with my clients and their support system. I rely on the understanding that my client’s truths are their experience which, make their experiences real and strong evidence as to how their story got to be what it is today. Rather than playing the expert and objectively prescribing client’s motives, needs, drives, ego strengths, or personality characteristics; I aim to collaborate with patients giving what they have to say equal privilege, and helping them to consider alternative stories. I help my clients identify their own strengths and wisdom to make positive change, and treatment is always customized to meet their unique needs.
