About My Clients
Are you looking to get to the root of it, and understand symptoms better? I know what it's like to have a lot of tools, but still be confused how to use them. I also know what it's like to feel like you don't have any tools to begin with. I promise you, thats not the case - you have innate tools that have helped you get here, today. I look forward to helping you put the pieces together and live a more resilient, satisfying life.
My Background and Approach
I enjoy working with experienced clients and those that are brand new to therapy. I am a certified perinatal mental health specialist through Postpartum Support International and enjoy working with clients trying to conceive, going through IVF, or anywhere on the perinatal timeline. I also work with couples who are experiencing communication issues, anger, and resentment, as well as couples who are simply wanting a "tune-up" at any stage in their relationship. I balance helping you gain insight about yourself and past experiences, with taking action to gain lasting change. I'm an empathic therapist who will honor your process. At the same time, I am comfortable challenging you to consider a new perspective and experiment with new solutions. I use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behaviorally based approaches. It can be difficult to reach out to a therapist for help, but you deserve support to start building a life that is truly satisfying.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I once read a short poem by Atticus that goes something like this: “Watch carefully, the magic that occurs when you give a person just enough comfort to be themselves.” This is how I think of my work as a therapist. Research shows that the relationship built between therapist and client is the most important part of therapy, even beyond interventions and treatment approaches. I hope a trusting, open relationship develops between us where you can feel comfortable exploring who you are. I believe in meeting clients where they are at and truly taking the time to learn what it is like to be them.
