My Background and Approach
I’ve had the privilege of helping people heal and create a better life for themselves for about a quarter century. I’ve worked in a wide variety of environments from hospice to school-based, to community clinic, to pastoral care center, on Ft. Meade and in an ADHD specialty center. I’ve worked in impoverished chronic-trauma neighborhoods, high-achieving communities and everything in between. I’ve had my own practice since 2004. The unique gift of each human being I’ve worked with has been truly inspiring. When we work together in a collaboration that respects what both client and clinician bring to the mix, the results are amazing! I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Hypnotherapy, NLP and Trauma. As I always say, “When we don’t know who we are, we act like someone else.” I use these modalities coupled with interpersonal support to help people see, remember and recover their true selves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the dignity, value and sacredness of all human beings. I work with people in their own frame of culture, racial identity, gender expression and faith or existential understanding. All of these elements shape and inform our unique presence. I am convinced that each of us brings something poignant and vitally important to the world around us. We come in all kinds of magnificent “wrappers.” We are at our best and healthiest individually and collectively when we celebrate the fullness of our diversity.
