About My Clients
You've probably found this page because you feel "stuck" in life. Maybe you're a parent who is challenged by their child's unique behavioral, emotional or academic needs & want help navigating them. Perhaps you're entering a life transition, such as entering or exiting a relationship, going to college, or getting a new job & want emotional support and validation. My goal is to help individuals, families and couples find insight into their challenges & cope through distressful situations
My Background and Approach
In therapy, the overarching goal is to support you through your own personal challenges, while providing you the tools to self-regulate your emotions, advocate for your wants and needs, and process complex traumas. My practice has been focused on treating individuals with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and behavioral issues. My work is collaborative, goal-oriented, and designed to provide you with tools that will prove efficacious in self-regulating your emotions throughout your life. When merited, I involve significant people in their lives, such as family members, partners and others to increase supports. My treatment plans are comprehensive and easy to follow for all of my clients. I have over a decade of training using cognitive behavioral therapy, applied behavioral analysis, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and other approaches tailored to the client’s needs. I have extensive experience working with families with parent training w/ complex behavioral issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capability to grow and thrive thru life’s challenges. Sometimes, we need the professional support of a counselor to nudge us in the right direction. Although we have done a great job destigmatizing mental health in society, I believe there is room for growth in this area to assure clients that, although their experiences are unique to them, they are not alone in their journey and that there are people in our community that unconditionally understand and support them. As a male who has had therapy for years, I had to overcome the stigma in order to find true inner peace. My experience has motivated me to take my experience and support others. While therapy is about the client, I use my personal experience to help navigate the client to a therapeutic outcome.
