What I offer comes not only from education and training, but also from lived experience with mental health issues and adoption.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Santa Cruz, CA
I have studied extensively about Bipolar Disorder and have worked with many affected clients. My focus is in mood management. I incorporate many concepts of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my treatment approach, which I have found extremely helpful with Bipolar Disorder.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have received in-depth training on relational work. These are also issues often of focus in my work with clients. I am passionate about helping my clients improve the quality of their relationships.
I have personal experience with adoption. In addition to my lived experience, I have researched the topic thoroughly (including having read The Primal Wound by Nancy Verrier) and continue to attend trainings and expand my understanding of related issues.
I work for the Attachment Center of Monterey Bay and am continually learning about the developments in attachment theory. I have had education in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, for children and for adults. I attended the ATTACh 2020 conference, in which I learned approaches from various experts in the field.
I have in-depth knowledge of DBT: it's philosophy, the dialectics, the various modules (Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness), and mood charting. I have incorporated a significant amount of DBT in my work with clients of many presenting issues.
I weave in applicable interventions including information on cognitive distortions, assistance in weighing the evidence, and implementation of the downward arrow.
I interned at the Attachment Center of Monterey Bay and am continually learning about approaches in the field of attachment theory. I attended the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh) Conference of 2020, in which I learned various theories from experts around the world.
