About My Clients
Do you find yourself struggling with shame or anxiety that people will reject you if they knew who you are? Do you feel depressed and anxious because you feel like you are emotionally starving, but terrified the cost to yourself or others is too great? Whether you identify with these feelings because of codependency, gender incongruence, or social anxiety, I don't want you to hold those struggles alone. I want to sit with you and empower you to take the steps to value a beautiful person: you.
My Background and Approach
I have honed my approach to practice for nearly a decade and I intend to keep growing and improving so I can better help people just like you. During our work together we will explore your immediate presenting problems and identify coping skills, social connections, or resources that would be helpful in addressing present stressors. Then we will work together to understand external/ environmental and internal systems that have led to the current circumstances you are experiencing. The brain is hardwired to help us survive and, most of the time, it is outstanding at that job. But when we have experienced trauma, pain, rejection, fear, and other powerful negative emotions it can feel impossible to break free from patterns of behavior or thoughts that kept us safe, even if the cost is self-loathing, feeling stuck, and unable to change. We will work together, building insight and awareness of these patterns to help you break free and actively maintain your gains outside therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person is doing the best they can within the understanding, knowledge, and narrative they have experienced. We are doing are best and I also believe we can also grow as we increase our understanding, sharpen our knowledge, and reshape our narrative that makes space for us to hold the truth of our lives and a love of our lives together. Through my own therapy and life experiences it is my most earnest intention to continue to grow. My favorite part of being a therapist is having the privilege of sitting with another person build understanding, knowledge, and a new narrative where they can break free and continue growing. I make it a point to be an authentic (and professional) person as a therapist because I believe your vulnerable authenticity is not a given. It is a gift you are sharing with me. I am a proud transgender woman. I believe that love is love. If you think I could be helpful to you in your journey, please contact me.
