About My Clients

I have a wide range of experience and this has helped me to be adaptable but also know where my strengths and passions lie. Most clients seen at Nova Mental Health identify as one or more of the following identities, people of color, queer, gender diverse, Neurodivergent (ADHD, Autistic, etc), and (previously) gifted/ IEP. Our clients are often seeking an affirming and informed therapist who really listens and provides space to explore identities and grow as individuals.

My Background and Approach

I opened my own practice because I wanted to work in an environment that truly focused on the client and their needs, not the bottom line of the agency. I take a client centered approach and meet my clients where they are at. I always tell my clients that therapy is a collaborative process and the more involved they are in their own therapy journey the higher chance of long term success. I never dismiss my clients concerns and will take each concern seriously and process it with the client. I hear all the time, clients getting dismissed and not feeling heard. As a therapist and a person who has had her own journey with mental health, this horrifies me. You are the professional of your own history and experience and we at Nova respect that. I try to keep a small caseload so I can truly give my all to each and everyone of my clients. Recently, I have began expanding my practice. I take this expansion seriously and only hire staff that reflect the same core values of Nova.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am not your typical therapist. I am unapologetically authentic with my clients (prepare for nerdy humor). I realize that for some clients, the therapeutic relationship may be the first time they experience a relationship that is healthy. I take that responsibility seriously and help my clients learn how to work for the life and relationships (both with themselves and others) they want and deserve. As a queer, late diagnosed Neurodivergent person who experienced a step-parent adoption, I have been in "both chairs" as we say. I understand the importance of finding a therapist who, "just gets it" and created my practice with that mindset at its core. All of the therapists at Nova, have been hired because they share similar beliefs and want to work for a practice that thinks and acts with the unique needs of our clients in mind!
