Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Olympia, WA
As a former teacher, I have 20+ years working with children/adolescents. My work centers around addressing grief, depression, anxiety, school issues, gender identity and more. My goal is empower youth to make healthy decisions to improve their overall happiness and relationships.
I work with children/teens and adults to address life transitions such as moving, new school & jobs, divorce, empty-nest, retirement, etc. My work centers mostly on providing tangible solutions to address underlying anxiety/stress/loss within a strength-based construct.
Loss comes in many shapes and sizes. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor is it a lack of faith. Know that we don't "move on" from grief, rather, we move forward. Grief changes. It is a passage - not a place to stay. Ultimately, it is the price of love.
As one of the founders of family systems theory states, "That which is created in a relationship, can be fixed in a relationship." I view problems within a systemic lens and work to resolve issues by focusing on improving the relationships within that family unit.
My therapy is Attachment oriented. I use the counseling relationship as the primary vehicle/tool for self-discovery and healing.
