Hi! I've been a therapist since 2009 with experience to know healing and happiness are possible! I hope to see you find this too :)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Rochester, NY
I believe that the most effective healing looks at the whole person, where they're coming from, and uses many tools from the tool box. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I can incorporate energy healing such as Reiki or shamanic energy medicine. I also believe many other forms of self-care, physical therapies, or forms of alternative medicine can support a person as well.
I have taken numerous trainings in DBT including intensive trainings. I have participated on DBT consultation teams, provided individual DBT therapy, and have facilitated DBT skills groups. This is a form of therapy that I really love because it brings a number of really effective psychotherapies and philosophies into a nice package that is practical for everyday life. DBT is something we can all use!
I have completed the EMDRIA approved training and consultation to provide EMDR. As good practice I will also continue with continuing education and case consultation to provide you with the best, up-to-date forms of care.
I have a great interest in working with all forms of abuse and trauma. Trauma is a big word that can mean something different to a lot of people. I like to look at trauma as something that we experience that is more stressful or hurts more than we know how to handle at the time it happened. What is traumatizing can vary from person to person, how old you were, or what your life looks like at the time. In any case, I believe in healing and post-traumatic growth.
Anxiety is something we all experience. I think it is a part of life and being human. When it becomes more overwhelming than we know how to deal with seeking help is a way to find relief. My approach to anxiety looks at your mind, body, and environment so we can feel more calm, grounded, and confident in our ability to handle the challenges in front of us.
I have an understanding and appreciation for many of the unique challenges, expectation, and difficulties woman face. I enjoy working with women of all ages and backgrounds. Whether your struggle with women's health, issues related to pregnancy or parenting, or relationships I would be honored to help.
I think of trauma as anything that is more stressful or hurtful than we knew how to handle when it happened. The impact of that can leave us with such a wide range of symptoms, from barely noticeable to crippling. What is traumatizing can vary from person to person, by age, or just what life looked like. If you are ready to work through something, be assured that you can find healing and the blessing of post-traumatic growth.
