About My Clients
People often come to me when they are tired of not feeling like themselves, feeling triggered in everyday situations, isolated, or fighting a battle they cannot win. I provide a safe space for clients to be vulnerable with no judgement and for them to work through these issues in a collaborative environment where they will be heard, validated and feel active in the process.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works through a trauma informed lens. I have experience working with teenagers, adults, families, and couples with issues such as trauma, grief, cultural issues, depression, anxiety, parenting, conflict resolution, communication issues, and attachment issues. I work through a systemic approach where the family and social contexts are taken into consideration in order to understand how they contribute to the presenting challenges and tailor a more complete treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My experience as a therapist started in community mental health as a way of helping people of my own culture who were experiencing migratory trauma and cultural issues in the USA. As I started this journey, I also expanded my experience towards other cultures and issues, making me more culturally competent and capable of helping people. I believe that everybody can work through challenging situations in life and we don't have to do it alone. Therapy is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength! It takes courage to confront our issues and work towards healing. It is hard work but rewarding at the same time. I believe that we have the capacity for change, grow and develop healthier patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. In this process it is important to feel supported and working collaboratively. I believe that therapy encourages self-reflection, self-empowerment and self-awareness allowing clients to gain deeper insights into their lives.
