My Background and Approach
My areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidality, trauma/PTSD, emotional distress, interpersonal challenges, and life transitions. I have extensive training in numerous evidenced-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Unified Protocol (UP). I begin the therapeutic process with a discussion of your current symptoms and challenges, your strengths, goals, life experiences, and aspects of your identity that help us better understand your unique circumstances. We then will collaboratively develop treatment goals and an individualized plan to help you meet your goals. Throughout the therapeutic process, we will assess progress towards your goals and make adjustments as needed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I firmly believe that we are all doing the best that we can, and we all can continue to learn new skills to help us grow and be the best versions of ourselves. I approach therapy from a client-centered, recovery-oriented framework. I firmly believe that you are the expert on your own experiences, and I view the therapeutic relationship as one that is collaborative and centered around your specific goals. I view therapy as a safe space for people to explore who they are, identify growth areas for themselves, and learn and practice new skills as they move towards their life goals.
