About My Clients
I love working with clients who are motivated, creative, unique, strong-willed, and kind. Often they are creative professionals, helpers, change makers, graduate students, artists, or parents, seeking to make changes in how they feel about themselves, how they manage life's challenges, or how they interact with those around them.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and interactive with a dynamic, ongoing commitment to trauma-informed, body-positive, sex-positive, queer-celebrating care. I am skilled at supporting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, authenticity, the adventures of youth, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, grief, recovery from trauma, religious harm, emerging adulthood, work/life/art-making tension, and needing to reintroduce play and creativity to daily life. Private practice since 2009. Years in community mental health. WA State Designation of Mental Health Professional (MHP), Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS), and Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor. Masters in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. BFA in Acting/Original Works from Cornish College of the Arts where I was awarded the Kreielsheimer Scholarship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At the core of my work is the humanistic belief that positive change and growth are possible. My work is action-oriented, systems-based, and informed by your creativity, imagination, values, and strengths. Along with counseling and supervising, I also work as an Educator, Dramaturg, Theatre/Dance Artist, and Teaching Artist. For well-being and attempting balance I participate in creative projects and love spending time with my husband and our son camping, hiking, kayaking, singing badly, and doing yard work. I recently took up tennis. I am terrible so far but value the opportunity to practice cultivating a beginner's mind and tolerating and sometimes even enjoying the learning process. It's hard and fun at the same time.
