About My Clients
Satveer specializes in working with BIPOC and QTBIPOC individuals, adult children of immigrants, academics and graduate students, neurodivergent folks, intellectualizers / people who have been told they are “highly self-aware” by past therapists, individuals with complicated familial relationships, artists/writers/poets. Satveer’s clinical areas of expertise include intergenerational trauma, anxiety, grief, identity exploration, alcohol use, body image, perfectionism, and shame.
My Background and Approach
Satveer practices from liberation psychology, relational psychodynamic, narrative therapy, anti-carceral/abolitionist, and anti-oppressive approaches. Satveer believes in horizontal, rather than vertical, relationships where therapy is a space where your ancestral and cultural wisdom, embodied knowledge, strengths, lived experiences, values, beliefs, relationships to yourself/others/the world, and emotions will be attended to with earnestness and collaboration. Together, we will find the words for your story even if they initially feel distant. Together, we will imagine and dream new ways of being in relation to yourself, others, the world, systems of oppression, time, space, and healing, and new ways of being in relation to hope, liberation, and freedom.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take a firm stance on being anti-genocide, anti-colonialism, and anti-racist. I combat the western focus in the mental health field by centering values and beliefs of the Global majority (e.g., BIPOC individuals).
