About My Clients
I work with children, teens, young adults and their families as well as adults in general who are looking for a therapist who will partner with them to work on treatment goals that are created in a collaborative process that relies on research-based treatment interventions. My clients come from a varied background from urban to rural areas from the Northeast to the South. Ideal clients have a desire to make a change but do not always know how but together we can figure that out.
My Background and Approach
Creating a space where my clients are free from judgment and safe to share anything & everything that is going on for them is essential, in my opinion, for success. I try to meet client where they are at & partner together with them and when needed, their loved ones to walk together in a journey of growth. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy in one way or another and that therapy is not just about healing from a mental illness but helping people become the best possible versions of themselves that they can be. A main focus of my work is helping others heal from trauma & loss in their lives by considering the whole person in the context of their environment factoring in mind, body, spirit & community. To do this, measuring what is happening in the work through assessments is a key component that helps to guide our work together. My hope for clients is to help them get to a place where therapy is used as a moment or season in life to grow and then continue on in life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to heal and grow from the experiences that life brings whether those experiences be positive or negative. I consider myself to be a guide on a journey with clients where I can come with them, show them which path to take. It is up to clients as to whether they want to travel down that path. Therapy is not always easy and is not always fun... but it can be! I have worked with people many different experiences and support clients in their human experience, whatever that might be so before meaningful work can take place trust must be developed so that the inner experience of healing can be unlocked. I believe that therapists should be more than just someone to "vent" to but rather a therapist is an active participant with clients to provide support, find resolution to problems and build skills to achieve the goals established at the beginning of therapy.
