About My Clients
Are you feeling anxious about the state of the world or going through a challenging life transition? I know how feelings of uncertainty can upend your life. If you're a person of color, identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or hold other or intersecting marginalized identities, these feelings can feel intensified by systemic barriers and oppression. I look forward to offering you space where you can bring all aspects of yourself to the therapy room.
My Background and Approach
I have always been interested in how our culture and the content we consume can impact our self-image and mental health, which led me to receive my Bachelor's degree in media and cultural studies. It was not until my own experiences in therapy where I realized that the need for representation goes far beyond what we see on screen. This led to my journey to become a healer that centers individuals who are often overlooked in the mainstream. My approach incorporates attachment theory, boundary work, as well as intergenerational and racialized trauma. Through ongoing personal self-reflection and professional education, I aim to provide holistic, culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and liberation-centered care. You are the expert on your life story, during our sessions together I will empower you to set the pace of your healing. Along with talk therapy, I am also able to incorporate mind-body exercises, psychoeducation, and tarot cards to aid in your healing process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we're all capable to grow if given the opportunity. This can be difficult when much of the mental health field is centered toward white, cis-gendered, able-bodied folks. I believe in decolonizing therapy and offering a space where all feel welcome to share their stories and heal. I believe in acknowledging systemic oppression inside the therapy room and being a proactive advocate outside of our sessions to push for change. In my own journey combating anxiety, it was life changing to see a therapist of my same ethnic background, who could understand my experiences with racism. Unfortunately, many folks who hold a marginalized identity feel like they must hide part of themselves in the therapy room, I hope to change that.
