About My Clients
I have provided behavioral health care services across a spectrum of populations, within a variety of settings to include: a residential psychiatric rehabilitation treatment facility (PRTF), the Department of Corrections, the family court system, Drug and Young Adult Courts, military installations, schools, outpatient and community mental health, as well as private/group practice. I work with individuals; families; couples & groups affected by existential and a range of mental health issues.
My Background and Approach
I am a teaching counselor who draws from my background in Education, utilizing best practice counseling approaches that are evidence based, empirically and ethically sound. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Brief Therapy Positive Psychology & more, often combing the former to improve therapeutic outcomes. I strive to create a safe, relaxed, judgment-free space in which clients feel inclined to share, discuss, plan & actualize. I describe therapy as: “the two of us on a boat; you are the captain steering the vessel & I am a trusted passenger, navigating only when needed.”Wherever you are on your journey, I am willing to join you in exploring the possibilities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every individual is a unique being with different experiences; perspectives; perceptions; strengths and coping skills. Therefore, I tailor my approaches to meet the individual needs of my clients where they are in real time; respecting cultural; gender; spiritual; religious; social norms and values.
