About My Clients
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), serious mental illnesses, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to help. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, validated, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward change. My clients often come to therapy seeking clarity, relief, and genuine growth through the development of insight.
My Background and Approach
I am a researcher, academic, and clinician in the field of psychology, serving as both a clinical psychologist, and as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Eastern Michigan University, where I teach general introduction to psychology, and the psychology of sex, gender, and sexuality. My practice draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Approaches. I have advanced expertise in psychological, neuropsychological, and personality assessment and integrate critical psychological principles and theories to provide deeper context and insight.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental health cannot be viewed in isolation from social factors. Drawing on critical psychological theories, I advocate for a holistic approach that acknowledges how issues like systemic prejudice, discrimination, and socioeconomic disparities impact mental health. Together, we will explore these dynamics, empowering you to advocate for your well-being while fostering resilience in the face of adversity. Mindfulness and Resilience (as Tools for Empowerment) In our work together, I emphasize the importance of mindfulness and social support as foundational elements of mental health. By fostering a safe space for you to freely express your thoughts and feelings, we will develop strategies that enhance your resilience, enabling you to confidently confront life’s challenges and cultivate lasting wellness.
